Passed Events:

One more memorable evening by Gujarati Samaj of Central Pennsylvania. The day was Saturday, November 1st, 2008. It started at 5:00 pm as social hour. Around 300 people gathered at Scottish Rite Cathedral, Harrisburg to celebrate the Diwali Dinner. It started with arts of a magician followed by a prayer performed by well-known choreographer Rashmita Amin. Then there were various performances of very young girls to the elder ones. There was a wonderful performance by a group of adults in couple from Harrisburg. Among all these dance performances, couple of old songs were sung which won the hearts of the audience. A skit was played to make the people laugh out loudly. The entertaining program was concluded by an astonishing dance performance of Radha-Krishna and gopies, by ladies of York.

Ashok Shukla announced the Committee members of 2009.

Like every year, Navratri was celebrated by Gujarati Samaj of Central Pennsylvania in a same mood and tempo. October 3rd and 4th, people gathered at Holy Name Jesus School, Harrisburg, PA to perform Garba and Raas. The church hall was full even at 2:00pm on Saturday when it was ended.

This year too, people enjoyed dancing on Mumbai Gadi and Sanedo, apart from traditional Garba and Dandia.

Now people are eagerly waiting for the next celebration, Diwali 2008!

Like last year, this year's picnic was also held at Gifford Pinchot State Park, Lewisberry, PA on the Sunday, the Aug 3rd 2008 . With cloudy and 87°F temperature and very less wind, all outdoor activities were performed. There were around 300 Gujaraties gathered to have nothing but the fun.

The GSofCPA Committee and other volunteers provided wonderful services for cooking the food on site. There were very tasty Gota for appetizers followed by some non-veg dish as well. The president, Nareshbhai served everybody with watermelons too. The dinner consisted of spicy and non-spicy Khichdi along with creamy Chhash. It was so delicious...!

During the whole time, people played games and did other activities. A large group of people continously played Volley Ball. There was a separate badmington court too. Some children played Cricket and one group also played 'Ubhi Kho'. Some just sat on the bank of the lake whereas some people enjoyed boating in the lake too. It was all fun everywhere.

Around 8:00pm after taking dinner, people left for home.
